1. Formidable Forms
Trustpilot Rating: 4.6 stars (40+ reviews)
GetApp Rating: 4.9 stars (75+ reviews)
WordPress Rating: 4.7 stars (1,000+ reviews) | 400,000+ active installations
Running a WordPress site? Formidable Forms is the best Outgrow tool for you. Unlike outgrow.co and all of the other platforms on this list, Formidable was made for WordPress.
The Formidable plugin lets you create conversational forms, quizzes, surveys, calculators, and more, all directly from your WordPress dashboard. You can view and analyze collected data in real time, right in WordPress! 📊
Aside from being the best option for WordPress users, Formidable offers many features that other tools don’t. For starters, the number of interactive content pieces you can create and the number of form entries you can collect are never limited.
You’ll also never have Formidable Forms branding on your forms. And all this is true even with the free Formidable Forms plugin.
Pricing: Free version available, premium plans start at $79/year (less than $7/month)
👍 Pros:
- Made for WordPress
- Drag and drop form builder
- Dozens of question field types, including radio buttons, datepickers, and digital signatures
- White label (no 3rd-party branding on your site)
- Unlimited forms and responses
- 50+ integrations including Mailchimp, AWeber, HighRise, HubSpot, Salesforce, Zapier, and Polylang
- 14-day risk-free money-back guarantee
- World-class customer support
👎 Cons:
- Must be using WordPress
- Limited free version
2. Involve.Me
Trustpilot Rating: 3.8 stars (10+ reviews)
GetApp Rating: 4.4 stars (60+ reviews)
This lesser-known app has a lot of benefits that many of the bigger names don’t offer. Involve.Me lets you create online quizzes, surveys, calculators, landing pages, and more. Basically, it gives you tons of fun ways to generate leads. And there’s a free version too!
With partial form submissions, hidden fields, a drag-and-drop interface, and the option to customize fonts, colors, and more — Involve.Me offers a lot of things to be excited about.
However, it seems that their customer service isn’t one of them. ☹️ Multiple users have complained that they were charged despite trying to cancel their free trial. Uh oh!
And based on online reviews, the pricing seems to be a bit expensive for what it is.
Pricing: Free version, paid plans start at $19/month billed annually ($228/year)
👍 Pros:
- Build funnels right in WordPress
- Drag-and-drop editor
- Nearly 50 integrations including Mailchimp, AWeber, HubSpot, Salesforce, and Zapier
- 14-day free trial of premium version
- Pre-made themes
👎 Cons:
- Limited free version
- Free trial often not free
- Limited customization
- No option to export as PDF
- Users have reported technical issues
3. Zoho Forms
Trustpilot Rating: 1.8 stars (420+ reviews)
GetApp Rating: 4.2 stars (100+ reviews)
Not to be confused with its sister product, Zoho Survey, which is similar but more limited, Zoho Forms offers a generous free version that enables users to create up to 3 forms and collect up to 500 submissions per month. That’s the most of any free tool we’ve found, aside from Formidable Forms.
Paid plans are reasonably priced and all let you create an unlimited number of forms and collect 10,000+ submissions/month. Not bad! 🙂
Like Formidable, Zoho Forms offers a drag-and-drop form builder that makes it easy to create multi-page forms, even with a free plan. You can also add audio, video, and images to your forms.
The downsides? Zoho isn’t great in terms of integrations. There are integrations with Mailchimp and some with Zapier, but in general, Zoho Forms is built to work with the Zoho CRM, but not many others.
Pricing: Limited free version, paid plans from $25/month billed annually ($300/year)
👍 Pros:
- WordPress embed plugin
- Drag-and-drop form builder
- Supports audio, video, images
- 500 submissions/month per survey with the free plan + unlimited forms,
- 7-day free trial for premium plans
👎 Cons:
- Can’t redirect to your website in free version, goes to a Zoho page
- Limited customization options
- Limited integrations
- Few question types available
4. Ion Interactive by Rock Content
GetApp Rating: 4.4 stars (100+ reviews)
Another relative unknown on the interactive content and marketing automation scene, Ion is touted as an easy-to-use outgrow.co alternative for engaging your targeted audience.
Their website says that they can help you create all kinds of “interactive experiences” including assessments, calculators, ebooks, whitepapers, and infographics. Sounds great, right?!
Unfortunately, it’s all quite opaque. There are no demos or templates available to the public. Their pricing page lists different features, but you have to request a quote in order to learn more.
Pricing: Big ❓ You have to ask for a quote…
👍 Pros:
- All plans come with unlimited content pieces
- Well-rated, users say it’s very easy to use
👎 Cons:
- No transparency, who knows what you get or for how much!
- Limited traffic and responses for all plans
- Can’t create or edit forms in WordPress
- Few integrations
5. Typeform
Trustpilot Rating: 1.8 stars (620+ Reviews)
GetApp Rating: 4.7 stars (750+ reviews)
Nobody can deny that Typeform is having a moment. It’s currently one of the most popular Outgrow alternatives, making a name for itself thanks to its user-friendly one-question-at-a-time forms (aka conversational forms) that seem to be everywhere online right now.
It’s a super effective format that can really boost conversions. 🚀
While Typeform is great for making conversational forms, you’ll find the marketing software lacking for other kinds of interactive content creation. The question-by-question format is, in fact, the only type of survey or form you can make with Typeform and there are quite a few limitations. For example, there’s no Typeform datepicker and you can’t export Typeform to PDF.
Another thing to note? Typeform wasn’t built with WordPress in mind. There is a Typeform WordPress plugin, but it only serves to help you embed forms you already created in Typeform. You can’t make or modify Typeform forms from inside WordPress. 🙁
Running a WordPress site and want to make the same type of forms? Here’s why Formidable Forms is the best Typeform alternative.
Pricing: Free version, premium plans start at $29/month billed annually ($348/month)
👍 Pros:
- 500+ integrations including Slack, Zapier, Google Analytics, HubSpot, and Salesforce
- Pre-built form, survey, poll, and quiz templates
👎 Cons:
- Can’t create or edit forms in WordPress
- Limited to one-question-at-a-time forms
- Free plan limited to 10 responses/month
- Paid plans limited to 10,000 responses/month except with custom Enterprise plan
6. Jotform
Trustpilot Rating: 4.1 stars (750+ reviews)
GetApp Rating: 4.6 stars (1,300+ reviews)
Another heavy-hitter in the world of no-code online forms and surveys, Jotform is one of the best-known Outgrow alternatives. It’s a decent alternative to Typeform too.
Jotform is known for its user-friendly interface and for being easy to integrate with nearly any other software or platform including PayPal, Stripe, Trello, and more.
While it’s great for creating both simple and complex forms, it is lacking in terms of online calculators. Jotform also limits you in terms of submissions, and there’s no option to purchase more — you’ll have to upgrade to a more expensive plan if you need a higher limit.
Users have also complained online about a lack of customer support and technical problems.
Pricing: Free version available, premium from $34/month billed annually ($408/year)
👍 Pros:
- WordPress plugin for embedding
- Drag-and-drop builder
- Lots of customization options
- Export form entries to PDF
- 400+ integrations including Google Sheets, Asana, HubSpot, Salesforce, Slack, and Mailchimp
- 30-day money-back guarantee
👎 Cons:
- Can’t create or edit forms in WordPress
- Limited form submissions for all but Enterprise plan
- Limited monthly form views for all but Enterprise plan
- Limited number of monthly payment submissions for all but Enterprise plan
- Limited number of monthly signed documents for all but Enterprise plan
- Too many options
- Lackluster customer support
7. SurveyMonkey
Trustpilot Rating: 1.3 stars (570+ reviews)
GetApp Rating: 4.6 stars (9.600+ reviews)
You’ve surely heard of SurveyMonkey, a longtime leader in online surveys.
There’s a reason this marketing tool is so well-known; SurveyMonkey makes it easy to create GDPR-compliant forms, in part thanks to its hundreds of pre-built survey templates with sample questions written by experts. 🤓
It also offers loads of integrations with enterprise software like Salesforce and HubSpot which make it popular among big companies.
What you may not have heard about SurveyMonkey is that its free version is extremely limited. If you need to create questionnaires with more than 10 questions or want to collect more than 10 responses per survey, you’ll have to pay. 💸
And SurveyMonkey gets very expensive very quickly, although not as costly as Outgrow.
Another important thing to consider: there’s no SurveyMonkey plugin for WordPress, so you’ll have to be comfortable using a bit of code to embed your survey into a WordPress site.
Pricing: Free version available, premium plans start at $32/month billed annually ($384/year)
👍 Pros:
- 100+ integrations
- Easy-to-use interface
- Pre-built templates with sample questions written by pros
👎 Cons:
- No WordPress plugin
- Expensive if you want to benefit from all features ($100+/month)
- Limited customization options
So, which of these Outgrow alternatives will you choose?
As you can see, each of these Outgrow app alternatives has its strengths…
- If your site runs on WordPress: Formidable Forms is the best way to create forms, quizzes, and questionnaires. It’s also much cheaper than comparable WordPress plugins.
- If you’re not on WordPress: Zoho Forms offers the most features for a free tool, and Jotform is an affordable, white-label solution with lots of integrations and an easy-to-use form builder.
There are, of course, quite a few other Outgrow alternatives out there that didn't make our list, including LeadQuizzes, Wufoo, Gravity Forms, or Google Surveys (RIP). But we only wanted to give you the best options!
