We love having the ability to save and continue in video games, so why should our WordPress forms be any different?
Sometimes your forms need to be long and complex. So, giving your visitors a chance to save their progress and return later can mean the difference between a conversion and a bounce.
After all, who has the time to fill in ten pages of questions? Not us, and we doubt others do, either.
So, we've got a simple solution that's perfect for you and your visitors — Formidable's Save and Continue feature.
Top features
- Logged-in or Logged-out user editing
- Enable the save and continue option
- Autosave for worry-free saves
- Unique link to send to an email address for easy draft editing
Let users continue and save form submissions the easy way
Formidable's Save and Continue feature is as simple as downloading the add-on and enabling the option.
Then, the plugin adds a save button at the bottom of your form right next to the submit button. The only thing you need to do is choose who can edit their form submission, if you want to send a unique 'continue' link, and what message people see!
But what types of forms would you use this for? Well, we can think of a few with high form abandonment rates:
- Job application form
- Surveys
- Government and legal forms
- Loan applications
- Event registration forms
You'd be amazed how simply allowing users to save form progress helps your form conversions.
Limit who can edit a form draft
Sometimes you only want to let certain users select the save option and return later.
For that, you can limit form entries to logged-in users. Whether it's a private survey or an exclusive form, only people with access will see that "save draft" button to continue later.
But, if you want everyone to have the option to save and continue, then you can open it up to logged-out users also!
Send a link to bring users back
It's great to have a way for people to click the save changes and return later.
But what's going to remind them to come back in the first place? We have trouble simply remembering the groceries we need to buy at the store! We definitely need a reminder to finish a form...and your visitors are likely the same.
So, create a unique link for each visitor to copy for easy reference. Or, take it a step further and send it straight to their email! (You can even create a nice message to attach with it.)
But what if I don't have their email?
No worries. We've got you covered there, too. When a logged-out user tries to save without filling out your email field, an modal pops up where users can edit the email for the link!
Such a simple solution, but one that leads to HUGE results for your website.
*Note: Logged out draft saving is available in Formidable's Business Plan or above. Draft saving for logged-in users is available in Formidable's Basic Plan or above.
