Formidable's development is driven by your requests. You tell us your ideas and we work to make them reality. v3.02 includes two of the most requested features.
We get literally hundreds of feature requests each year. Your suggestions help us understand how Formidable is used in the real world for WordPress forms. Some of the biggest Formidable features are the result of user requests!
We also have our own internal wish list and plans. But even at full capacity, time is a limitation for our team. We prioritize the most requested and most awesome suggestions and enhancements that will benefit a large percentage of users.
We don't always make a big fuss about new features, but v3.02 includes some good ones. Two features that we see requested a lot in our help-desk are now built-in to Formidable!
Conditional submit button - without code!
Forms with conditional logic have been a core feature of Formidable for years. It's a feature that the vast majority of our users couldn't live without. Fields, and even entire sections can be hidden or displayed depending on form choices. Plus, pages can be conditionally skipped in multi-page forms. Formidable also allows conditional redirect after form submission. Even Views and email messages can be customized with conditional statements. It's simple, user-friendly, and quick to setup. But until now, conditional logic had one glaring exclusion: conditional submit. Using conditional logic on the submit button required an extra code snippet.
The ease of customizing Formidable with code snippets is something that appeals to many of our users. The developer-friendly framework means that almost any customization is possible. But not all our users are comfortable using code snippets, so we've been adding some of the most used functions to the settings.
Adding conditional submit to the user interface was a highly requested feature. So we are delighted to announce that you can now apply conditional logic to the submit button directly from the form settings page.
Conditional logic settings for your submit button
The new conditional logic settings allow for the submit button to be hidden or disabled when the conditions match or don't match. This logic applies to the final button in a form. It does not apply to the previous/next buttons in multi page forms.
To see these new settings, open your form to edit and go to the Settings tab. Scroll down to the "Styling and buttons" section of that page. Click the "Use Conditional Logic" link
You can now use the same show/hide conditional logic for your submit button as you do on your main form fields. All without a single code snippet!
Enable/disable options are also available. This allows your submit button to remain visible, but prevents submissions until all your conditions are met.
Require strong passwords
In a password field, entered characters are displayed as dots and are not readable. This is great for entering private or sensitive data. But many of our users wanted to require a minimum level of complexity in this field. You can now check a box in your field settings to require a strong password in a password field.
With this option checked, passwords need to:
- Be at least 8 characters long.
- Include at least one uppercase character.
- Have at least one lowercase character.
- Include at least one number.
- Use at least one symbol.
Requiring strong passwords is a cornerstone of online security. We encourage you to check this box for any login passwords, or when this password would grant access to sensitive data. Also, remember that this field is saved in plain text. When used with the WordPress user registration plugin, the password value is automatically cleared for security reasons, and only saved encrypted by WordPress. If you are using a password field in another application, be sure to address the security.
A visual password strength indicator for the front-end is also in the works and will be coming soon.
